曾子曰：“吾日三省吾身为人谋而不忠乎？与朋友交而不信乎？传不习乎？”

-English
Zeng Zi said "Everyday I examine myself on three counts. In what I have undertaken on other's behalf, did I not I not do my best? In my dealings with friends, have I failed to be trustworthy in what I say? Have I failed to practise repeatedly what I have learned?

そうしいわく、われひにわがみさんせいす。ひとのためにはかりてちゅうならざるか。ほうゆうとまじわりてしんならざるか。ならわざるをつたうるか。

子曰：“巧言令色，鲜矣仁！”

-English
Confucius said "A person who sweet-talk and pretentious does not have much benevolence."

しのたまわく、こうげんれいしょく、すくなしじん。

01-2 Learn the Analects of Confucius

有子曰：
其为人也孝弟，而好犯上者，鲜矣；不好犯上，而好作乱者，未之有也。
君子务本，本立而道生。孝弟也者，其为仁之本与！”

-English
You Zi [1]said "It is seldom seen that a man of filial piety and brotherly love would be inclined to offend those above. There has never been anyone who does not have the inclination to offend those above, inclined to create disorder. The gentleman should focus on its basics, once the basics are strong, the Way will take shape by itself. Thus, filial piety and brother love forms the roots of benevolence[2]."

[1]You Zi  is one of Confucius's students.he was looking like Confucious.
[2]Benevolence is the expression of kindness and altruism.

ゆうしいわく、そのひととなりりや、こうていにしてかみをおかすをこのむものはすくなし。かみをおかすをこのまずしてらんをなすをこのむものはいまだこれあらざるなり。くんしはもとをつとむ、もとたちてみちしょうず。こうていなるものは、それじんをなすのもとか。

学而时习之，不亦说乎？
有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎？
人不知，而不愠，不亦君子乎？”

-English
Confucius[1] said:
To learn and then practise it time and again is a good pleasure, is it not?
To have friends come from afar to share each other learning is a pleasure, is it not?
To be unperturbed when not appreciated by others is gentlemanly, is it not?"
